Add GitHub to a bot

It takes about a minute, and each person signs in once.

To a bot you have

  1. 1Open the bot’s settings and click + under Apps
  2. 2Choose GitHub and add it to the bot
  3. 3Sign in with your own GitHub account

To a new bot

  1. 1Click New bot, name it and say what it’s for
  2. 2Click Connect apps beside its name and choose GitHub
  3. 3Add it to the bot, then sign in with your own GitHub account

Then ask. The bot works in GitHub as you, with your access.

  • Your own sign-in

Each person signs in to GitHub themselves. A bot uses the sign-in of whoever is talking to it, never a teammate’s.

  • Only the bots you choose

A bot can use GitHub only once it has been added to that bot.

  • Switch off any action

Turn off any GitHub action for your sign-in, or remove it from a bot, whenever you like.

Questions about GitHub and Emra

How do I use AI agents with GitHub?

Add GitHub to an Emra bot and sign in, then ask the bot in plain words, in its chat or in Slack. It is an AI agent that works in GitHub as you, and it can run on a schedule you set.

What AI agents work with GitHub?

Emra bots do. Each is an always-on AI agent that works like a member of your team, and it connects to GitHub alongside the other apps you use, so one bot can carry a task from one app to the next.

Do Emra bots have their own computer?

Yes. Every Emra bot has its own computer and web browser in the cloud. It works in GitHub through this integration, and it can use any website your team can for the work that happens elsewhere.

Can AI agents work in GitHub around the clock?

Yes. Emra bots are always on. Give one a schedule and it does the work in GitHub at the times you set, or ask it anything, at any hour.

How do I connect GitHub to Emra?

Open a bot’s settings, click + under Apps and choose GitHub. Add it to the bot, then sign in with your GitHub account. It takes about a minute.

Whose GitHub account does a bot use?

The account of whoever is talking to it. Each teammate signs in with their own, and a bot never uses one person’s sign-in for someone else.

Can I limit what a bot does in GitHub?

Yes. Any GitHub action can be switched off for your own sign-in, and GitHub can be removed from a bot at any time.

Is there anything to install?

No. Your bots reach GitHub from Emra’s cloud, so you only sign in.
